The TIGA Games Industry Awards Introduce 5 New Award Categories

TIGA, the network for games developers and digital publishers and the trade association representing the video games industry, is staging its 5th annual awards event to recognise excellence across the industry. The awards are currently open for entry, with the deadline for entry on 23:59 p.m. on 12th August 2016.



To celebrate their 5th anniversary celebrating both games and the business of games, TIGA have introduced 5 new categories all of which are free to enter for both TIGA members and non-members. These are:

1.     Best Racing Game
2.     Best Sports Game
3.     Best Strategy Game
4.     Best Role Playing Game
5.     Best Puzzle Game

These new awards are part of 35 categories which will be awarded at the London ceremony on 10th November 2016. The new categories recognise the significance of these genres within the gaming landscape as identified in TIGA’s Genre Report in January 2016. The report showed that the Puzzle Games represented 29% of games made in the UK in 2015 with  Strategy representing 11.05% , Racing Games 7.36% and Sports 5.26% (for a full version of there report please visithttp://tiga.org/policy-and-public-affairs/reports).

TIGA CEO Dr. Richard Wilson said:
“Racing, RPGs, Sports, Strategy and Puzzle games are important game genres and so we are offering developers the opportunity to win a TIGA Award in these categories. The judges are looking forward to receiving entries into these and all 35 categories within the TIGA Games Industry Awards.”
