When FOX announced their new 2016-2017 schedule, The X-Files wasn't on it. Despite creator Chris Carter recently telling IGN that the network wants more.
During a conference call today, FOX chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman revealed that more episodes are indeed on the way, and that everyone involved wants to do more, but that figuring out the right schedules for stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson was a challenge. So the hope is that the series will return for the 2017-2018 season.
"Hopefully that will come together this season so that this time next year, we'll have something exciting to announce," Walden stated.
"As Dana said, it shouldn't be anything you anticipate before the 17-18 season," Newman added.
